Wynton today has over 2000 CPU cores available, with several thousand more under test and expected by the end of the year. It is linked to the Pacific Research Platform via a high-speed link. Wynton includes high performance computing and graphical processing profiles, with a next-generation data science profile under test. It is in use by hundreds of researchers from over 40 labs and centers.
High Performance Computing for All
Wynton is administered using a cooperative model, which provides access to the cluster for all UCSF researchers, regardless of their ability to contribute funds to the system.
Free accounts on the Institutional service tier will receive limited space in Wynton’s storage (BeeGFS distributed parallel filesystem) for their home directory, and access to the large shared working space for job performance. Investigators may contribute additional storage and hardware to the cluster, enabling higher job priorities and more concurrent cores for their tasks. More detail can found here.
